FM 90 L stainless steel wood-fired water heater, cast iron doors, brick-lined firebox – Made in EU
Description
FM 90 L stainless steel wood-fired water heater with cast iron doors
Made in the EU by Miklos Steel. This assembly combines a 90-litre stainless steel tank with a solid-fuel stove for domestic hot water. 2 mm stainless steel, cast iron doors and a brick-lined firebox provide a robust assembly for everyday use.
Choose this assembly for wood-fired domestic hot water in a household with a suitable installation location and chimney connection. The stainless steel tank, cast iron doors and firebox lining bring the key materials together in one product.
Domestic hot water heated with solid fuel
The 90 L FM boiler heats water for bathing and everyday household use. Its storage tank and firebox form one assembly: fuel burns in the lower section, while the flue passage through the tank transfers heat to the water.
The design combines a 2 mm stainless steel tank, cast iron doors and a brick-lined firebox. The tank-mounted thermometer allows the water temperature to be monitored. When choosing an installation location, allow for the overall assembly dimensions and the space required for water and flue connections.
Materials and equipment
- Stainless steel tank: corrosion-resistant, 2 mm sheet steel.
- Cast iron doors: firebox and ash compartment doors suited to thermal loads.
- Brick lining: protects the interior of the firebox and helps retain heat.
- Analogue thermometer: monitors water temperature and is shown in the product photographs.
- Safety equipment: the manufacturer specifies a safety-valve connection and a safety valve in the tank equipment.
How it works
Fuel burns in the stove firebox. Hot flue gases travel through the exhaust pipe inside the tank, transferring heat to the water. The assembly is intended for domestic hot water; a radiator central-heating function is not specified.

These construction figures correspond to the “Ansamblu boiler inox 90L cu focar” row in the FM range technical table. Maximum operating pressure remains 3 bar.
Included equipment and separately purchased accessories
The assembly is supplied as two units: the water tank and the firebox. The manufacturer’s documentation specifies a thermometer and one safety valve, which also acts as a non-return valve on the cold-water inlet.
Purchased separately: a second safety valve rated at no more than 6 bar for the hot-water outlet; a closed expansion vessel of at least 8 L; a pressure regulator, recommended when the cold-water supply exceeds 3 bar. These accessories are not included in the standard equipment stated in the manual.
Installation and connections
A qualified and authorised professional must install and commission the appliance. The manufacturer’s installation diagram requires two safety valves and an expansion vessel, with G ½″ water connections. Do not fit isolation valves between the tank and its safety valves or expansion vessel. Maximum working pressure is 3 bar; the 6 bar valve and test figures do not represent permitted operating pressure.
The flue connection uses a 120 mm pipe with no more than two bends. The manual specifies a 15° upward slope for the horizontal run and a masonry chimney with an internal section of at least 250 × 125 mm and a minimum height of 6 m. The installer must check draught and whether these requirements suit the installation. Keep at least 0.5 m from doors, furniture and flammable materials.
Connection diagram from the manual
Figure 1 from the manufacturer’s manual shows the wood-fired boiler connections. Blue marks the cold-water inlet; red marks the hot-water outlet. The original Romanian labels are retained, with explanations below.

- ½″ water connections and a separate drain connection.
- A 6 bar safety valve on the cold-water inlet is included in the basic package.
- A second 6 bar safety valve at the hot-water outlet is purchased separately.
- A closed expansion vessel of at least 8 L and a 3 bar pressure regulator are not included in the basic package.
This is a general FM range diagram showing a 114.3 mm flue connection; the 90 L assembly’s technical data specifies 120 mm. The installer must check the actual connection on the supplied product and compatible fittings. Maximum working pressure remains 3 bar. The diagram does not replace installation by an authorised professional.
Correct operation
- Fill the tank completely with water before lighting the fire. Never heat an empty tank.
- Monitor the thermometer and stop adding fuel when the water reaches its 65 °C limit.
- Condensation may drip into the combustion area during a cold start; this is normal and stops as the water warms up.
- Operate the appliance under supervision. Do not leave the fire unattended or sleep in the room where it is operating.
- Do not burn plastic, rubber, painted wood or coke. Use the fuels specified by the manufacturer.
- During winter non-use, drain the water according to the instructions if freezing is possible.
Cleaning, maintenance and documents
- Clean the firebox, grate and ash compartment after each use, once the appliance is cold.
- Remove soot from flue pipes, bends and the gas passage monthly or whenever needed.
- Flush the tank quarterly or if deposits discolour the water; remove limescale periodically according to water quality and the instructions.
- Clean the exterior with a cotton cloth and soapy water, then wipe it dry.
- Arrange an annual inspection by a qualified professional. Keep the warranty certificate and purchase invoice or receipt.
These points summarise the instructions for the solid-fuel version. The manual also covers electric versions; an electric heating element and thermostat are not specified as equipment on this model. The full instructions supplied with the product must be followed during installation and operation.
Frequently asked questions before buying
What is it designed for?
Domestic hot water for bathing and everyday household use. It is not presented as a central-heating boiler for radiators.
How many people can use the 90 L capacity?
90 L is the tank capacity. Usage depends on individual water consumption, water temperature and mixing with cold water; it does not guarantee a specific number of showers.
How long does it take to heat the water?
Heating time depends on starting temperature, fuel, chimney draught and water volume. Nominal heat output is 5.5 kW; a single heating time for every operating condition is not specified.
How does FM differ from Economic FM?
The manufacturer’s catalogue distinguishes the FM version by its cast iron doors. Economic FM has sheet steel doors. This listing is for the 90 L FM model with cast iron doors.
Can it be installed immediately after purchase?
An authorised installer must carry out installation. Check the water and chimney connections, available space and separately purchased accessories in advance: the second safety valve and an expansion vessel of at least 8 L.
Is electric heating included?
This listing presents the solid-fuel version. An electric heating element and thermostat are not specified as equipment for this model.
